    On integrability of some bi-Hamiltonian two field systems of PDE

    We continue the study of integrability of bi-Hamiltonian systems with a compatible pair of local Poisson structures (H_0,H_1), where H_0 is a strongly skew-adjoint operator. This is applied to the construction of some new two field integrable systems of PDE by taking the pair (H_0,H_1) in the family of compatible Poisson structures that arose in the study of cohomology of moduli spaces of curves.Comment: 30 page

    Integrable discrete systems on R and related dispersionless systems

    The general framework for integrable discrete systems on R in particular containing lattice soliton systems and their q-deformed analogues is presented. The concept of regular grain structures on R, generated by discrete one-parameter groups of diffeomorphisms, through which one can define algebras of shift operators is introduced. Two integrable hierarchies of discrete chains together with bi-Hamiltonian structures are constructed. Their continuous limit and the inverse problem based on the deformation quantization scheme are considered.Comment: 19 page

    The Extended Bigraded Toda hierarchy

    We generalize the Toda lattice hierarchy by considering N+M dependent variables. We construct roots and logarithms of the Lax operator which are uniquely defined operators with coefficients that are ϵ\epsilon-series of differential polynomials in the dependent variables, and we use them to provide a Lax pair definition of the extended bigraded Toda hierarchy. Using R-matrix theory we give the bihamiltonian formulation of this hierarchy and we prove the existence of a tau function for its solutions. Finally we study the dispersionless limit and its connection with a class of Frobenius manifolds on the orbit space of the extended affine Weyl groups of the AA series.Comment: 32 pages, corrected typo

    Tau function and Hirota bilinear equations for the Extended bigraded Toda Hierarchy

    In this paper we generalize the Sato theory to the extended bigraded Toda hierarchy (EBTH). We revise the definition of the Lax equations,give the Sato equations, wave operators, Hirota bilinear identities (HBI) and show the existence of tautau function τ(t)\tau(t). Meanwhile we prove the validity of its Fay-like identities and Hirota bilinear equations (HBEs) in terms of vertex operators whose coefficients take values in the algebra of differential operators. In contrast with HBEs of the usual integrable system, the current HBEs are equations of product of operators involving exe^{\partial_x} and τ(t)\tau(t).Comment: 29 pages, to appear Journal of Mathematical Physics(2010

    Using construction of logarithm of a difference operator, we present the Lax pair formalism for certain extension of the continuous version of the classical Toda lattice hierarchy, provide a well defined notion of tau function for its solutions, and give an explicit formulation of the relationship between the CP1 topological sigma model and the extended Toda hierarchy. We also establish an equivalence of the latter with certain extension of the nonlinear Schrodinger hierarchy

    Motor Parameter-Free Predictive Current Control of Synchronous Motors by Recursive Least-Square Self-Commissioning Model

    This article deals with a finite-set model predictive current control in synchronous motor drives. The peculiarity is that it does not require the knowledge of any motor parameter. The inherent advantage of this method is that the control is self-adapting to any synchronous motor, thus easing the matching between motor and inverter coming from different manufacturers. Overcoming the flaws of the existing lookup table based parameter-free techniques, the article elaborates the past current measurements by a recursive least-square algorithm to estimate the future behavior of the current in response to a finite set of voltage vectors. The article goes through the mathematical basis of the algorithm till a complete set of experiments that prove the feasibility and the advantages of the proposed technique

    A construction of bent functions from plateaued functions

    In this presentation, a technique for constructing bent functions from plateaued functions is introduced and analysed. This generalizes earlier techniques for constructing bent from near-bent functions. Using this construction, we obtain a big variety of inequivalent bent functions, some weakly regular and some non-weakly regular. Classes of bent function with some additional properties that enable the construction of strongly regular graphs are constructed, and explicit expressions for bent functions with maximal degree are presented

    Enumeration of hypermaps and Hirota equations for extended rationally constrained KP

    We consider the Hurwitz Dubrovin--Frobenius manifold structure on the space of meromorphic functions on the Riemann sphere with exactly two poles, one simple and one of arbitrary order. We prove that the all genera partition function (also known as the total descendant potential) associated with this Dubrovin--Frobenius manifold is a tau function of a rational reduction of the Kadomtsev--Petviashvili hierarchy. This statement was conjectured by Liu, Zhang, and Zhou. We also provide a partial enumerative meaning for this partition function associating one particular set of times with enumeration of rooted hypermaps.Comment: 39 page

    The multicomponent 2D Toda hierarchy: Discrete flows and string equations

    The multicomponent 2D Toda hierarchy is analyzed through a factorization problem associated to an infinite-dimensional group. A new set of discrete flows is considered and the corresponding Lax and Zakharov--Shabat equations are characterized. Reductions of block Toeplitz and Hankel bi-infinite matrix types are proposed and studied. Orlov--Schulman operators, string equations and additional symmetries (discrete and continuous) are considered. The continuous-discrete Lax equations are shown to be equivalent to a factorization problem as well as to a set of string equations. A congruence method to derive site independent equations is presented and used to derive equations in the discrete multicomponent KP sector (and also for its modification) of the theory as well as dispersive Whitham equations.Comment: 27 pages.
